BLACKSTAR Unveils Two New Super Lightweight St. James Amps

Blackstar unveiled their line of St. James amplifiers earlier this year, which offered all the tone you’d expect from Blackstar in their lightest amplifiers to date. Now the company has expanded the lightweight line to include two new 50-watt 2×12 combo amps in both a classic EL34 design and a higher gain 6L6 version.

The new St. James amps weigh 37 pounds each and offer two 12″ Celestion Zephyr ferrite magnet-loaded speakers, powered by either two EL34 or two 6L6 tubes depending on which one you get. Both the EL34 and 6L6 amps come with Blackstar‘s Cab Rig DSP speaker simulator, and offer a Power Reduction switch to swap out your power for 50W, Sag and 2W output modes.

Both amps are available here for $1,499.99.

The original line of the amps includes the St. James 50 EL34 and 6L6 head, the EL34 and 6L6 combo versions, and then the 212VOC cabinets. You can check out a few demos of the amps below, courtesy of Blackstar!

Both the EL34 and 6L6 heads and combos feature clean and crunch channels, with the EL34 focused on British crunch and very US-sounding cleans and the 6L6 being coupled with Blackstar’s highest gain Overdrive circuit to date for a little more metal. Both the heads and the combos offer an inbuilt reactive load with Cab Rig DSP; 50W, 2W and SAG switchable power modes; and XLR, Stereo Line-Out and USB outputs. The heads are available now for $1,199, while the combos are available for $1,299.

Then there are the 212VOC cabinets, which are both 2×12 and come loaded with 2x 12″ Celestion Zephyr speakers. The 212VOC offer removable rear panels for open/close back options. Both cabinets are available here for $749.
