The new Analog Kid Chorus from Lerxst Amplification – the company owned by Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson – offers up the modulating textures that helped define Lifeson’s work throughout the classic Rush era.
Drawing inspiration from the classic guitar sounds heard across Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, and Signals, the Analog Kid is designed to recreate everything from shimmering clean textures to deep, swirling modulation.
At the heart of the pedal is a true dual-LFO chorus engine, a design that immediately separates it from the rest of the chorus market. Each footswitch accesses its own LFO circuit, allowing players to shift modulation textures in real time and pretty much get as weird as they wanna.
The level of control here is extensive without becoming overwhelming. Players can run the two modulation circuits independently for evolving, multi-layered textures, or sync them together using a master rate mode for tighter, more traditional chorus sounds. Separate depth controls for each circuit allow the modulation character to move from subtle widening to full-blown seasick swirl, while selectable LFO direction adds another layer of movement and unpredictability.
The inclusion of vibrato mode pushes the pedal far beyond standard chorus territory, opening up warped pitch modulation textures that feel suited to ambient experimentation and vintage-inspired psychedelia. In stereo, the Analog Kid becomes especially impressive, creating a massive three-dimensional spread that transforms even simple clean tones into something truly immersive.
Physically, the pedal keeps things practical and pedalboard-friendly. Top-mounted I/O helps conserve space, and the unit runs on isolated 9V DC power at 150mA, with no battery compartment included.
