Aalberg Audio’s MOON Wireless Switcher – Control Effects and Amps Remotely

You know what sucks about music gear? Cables. Cables suck. I’ll start setting up my rig by running the leads and power cables neatly and logically. But a few pedals, a rack unit and a foot controller later and I’ve gone and booby trapped myself into a goddamn corner. So, if you tell me that there’s a way to ditch the stage-spaghetti, I’m definitely listening. And it looks like those industrious Norwegians might be on to something.

The ‘MOON MO-1’ is a cool new wireless switcher from Aalberg Audio. It can plug into your amp, effects pedals or MIDI gear and lets you switch them remotely with the app or AERO controller. And it also has the ability to control eight devices simultaneously. So you could definitely do some pretty hefty ‘scene switching’ but with real pedals and amps.

Check out their teaser video for the MOON (featuring a Scandinavian man, fake guitar-noodling in the moonlight).

Plugging the MOON into your rack FX unit MIDI and having one of those AERO controllers would be sweet. Ooh what if you had it linked to a Whammy parameter?! The possibilities…

I like the idea of not being tied up to that one spot on the stage where your pedals are. Even better. If your sound guy has the app (and you trust him), why not make him work a little harder and do the channel and FX switching for you?

But really though, it’s 2016. This is meant to be the future. Why are we still using cables like peasants?

Aalberg is running a Kickstarter campaign to get this thing off the ground (no pun intended). For the sake of our collective cable OCD, back the project and buy one.
