Los Angeles-based guitarist Ben Cohen has officially stepped into the spotlight with the release of his debut solo single, “The Dead Can Dream”.
Released today, July 8, the track showcases Cohen’s approach to modern guitar music, balancing technical precision with memorable melodies and dynamic songwriting. It’s also catchy, which is unfortunately a rarity in instru-metal.
A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Cohen has already built an impressive résumé as a touring guitarist, performing internationally with Australian progressive rock outfit Toehider and video game metal favorites Powerglove. His debut solo release marks the first music issued under his own name and serves as the foundation for an ongoing solo career.
Drawing influence from artists including Dream Theater, Animals As Leaders, Plini, Intervals, Steve Vai, and Polyphia, Cohen’s sound embraces progressive metal’s technical demands while placing equal emphasis on mood, storytelling, and musical expression.
