Retox Lay Waste To A Moscow Recording Studio

One of my favorite bands going today are California’s hardcore/death-surfy outfit Retox, a band comprising members spread across the state’s extreme music scenes from bands like The Locust, Head Wound City, Cattle Decapitation, and Holy Molar. The band’s newest album, Beneath California, is pretty firmly placed in my favorite albums of the year so far – it’s like an excavation of the seedy underbelly of modern American hypocrisy, where no single topic is safe from vocalist Justin Pearson’s wrath.

A couple months back while on tour in Europe, the band settled in to Destroy The Humanity Studios in Moscow, Russia to lay down a pretty smokin’ live set. Although this video really doesn’t do justice to the intensity of this band’s life show, it gives you a pretty good idea of their mathy, chaotic experience. Check it out:
