Neural DSP has released CorOS 4.1.0 alongside Cortex Control 4.1.0, calling it the largest update the Quad Cortex platform has received to date. The release adds compatibility for five more X-updated plugins, introduces eight new Virtual Devices, and rolls out Device Presets, a workflow overhaul for saving and recalling individual device settings.
With CorOS 4.1.0, Archetype: John Mayer X, Archetype: Petrucci X, Archetype: Misha Mansoor X, Archetype: Rabea X, and Archetype: Tim Henson X are now all Quad Cortex-compatible, bringing more than 70 additional amps, cabs, and effects to the unit for owners of those plugin licenses. That means every currently available X-updated plugin now works on Quad Cortex and Quad Cortex mini.

The biggest workflow change is Device Presets. Where a standard Preset stores an entire rig, a Device Preset stores just one Virtual Device’s settings — an amp, cab, drive, or utility — so it can be recalled in any rig without rebuilding it from scratch. The update ships with more than 2,000 factory Device Presets, and users can save up to 32 of their own per supported device. The same preset system now extends to I/O Settings and Global EQ.
On the device side, CorOS 4.1.0 adds eight new Virtual Devices available to all users: Multivoicer (pitch harmonization), Glitch (granular delay), Ring Modulator, Arpeggio Delay, Crystal Delay, Vintage Digital reverb (based on OTO Machines’ BAM Space Generator), Douglas Shining Comp (based on Darkglass Electronics’ Hyper Luminal), and Plugin Parametric-4, a four-band EQ.
A new Dual Footswitch Assignments feature also lets certain devices — including Vintage Digital, Aeons Reverb, and Laser — have a secondary function like Freeze mapped to its own footswitch, independent of bypass.
