This week, THE GUITAR GEEK premiered the band SOMETHING ON 11, a project between artists Jen Majura (Evanescence) and Alen Brentini. Both boast impressive resumes and multi-instrumental skill, and they’ve come together to form what may be a guitar-focused project. But don’t quote me on that last thought, because both artists sing professionally as well, so I’m not really sure in what format their future songs will be. Versatility is the perk of putting in the work to master more than one skill, it seems.
I always find myself, maybe subconsciously, gauging a musicians skill level on how comfortable they look while playing their instrument. Not just posture or facial expression, but their hands and arms or whatever limb they’re using to play that instrument. Both of these artists look incredibly comfortable trading leads, runs, and wammy vibrato, which inspires respect all the more knowing that they both had and have other primary instruments in various projects throughout their careers.
I’m looking forward to hearing more of what they create together. Check out the track above and vibe some tasty harmonized leads.
