The Weekly Riff – STONECUTTERS Show You How to Rock With This Riff From “Carbon Footprint”

On our latest edition of The Weekly Riff, our boys in Louisville-based metal band Stonecutters took it upon themselves to bring you a riff from their song “Carbon Footprint”. The track comes from their 2015 record Blood Moon, and guitarist Nick Burks walks us through the main riff from the chorus section. It’s wonderfully thrashy and sludgy but retains a surprisingly melodic theme throughout. The riff also has a lot of theoretical ideas a play, which is pretty neat to hear in such an aggressive-sounding tune. And if that weren’t enough, Nick also does a brief rundown of the gear he’s using at the end, which is a nice little bonus. This is Gear Gods, after all.

You can download Blood Moon through the band’s Bandcamp page, and follow them on their Facebook and Instagram for maximum stoney goodness. You can also catch ’em on the road on a few various dates listed below.
