Who Will Take Revocation’s Drum Throne? Here Are Some Contenders

We were saddened to learn last week that Revocation had parted ways (amicably) with longtime drummer Phil Dubois-Coyne. Phil is a great musician and was obviously a perfect match for that band, given that he grew up with lead guitarist/songwriter Dave Davidson, but we are excited to see the music that he makes in the future, as well as to find out who will replace the big shoes that he left in Revocation.

Revo have been subbing in a number of drummers to fill in for Phil since he’s been sidelined with a broken arm (as well as, assumingly, since he left the band), so we thought we would collect some playthroughs from each of these drummers to give you a taste of the (potential) competition for the band’s drum seat. All of these guys have their own style, and it’ll be interesting to see who seizes the throne (more interesting than Game of Thrones, amirite?)

Ash Pearson (3 Inches of Blood, Angel Grinder, Sound of Swarm)

Alex Rudinger (The Faceless, Conquering Dystopia, Monuments)

Jon “Charn” Rice (Job for a Cowboy)

Let’s not forget, too, how great Phil was. He is a titanic personality and immense player, and will be missed in this band.
