Here’s Devin Townsend Programming Ziltoid Beats with EZ Drummer 2

It’s always worth while speaking to a clever man, but doubly so when that man is Devin Townsend, and let’s double down on that again when he’s in the studio writing a new Ziltoid the Omniscient double LP.

Ubiquitous digital drum purveyors Toontrack caught up with Devy in the studio, to examine his EZ Drummer 2 composition process. He demonstrates taking some of the preexisting grooves to get a basic structure, and then messing with the beats to personalize them. No, you don’t get to hear any actual Ziltoid riffs, but maybe if you get really stoned you can take these rough drum concepts and let your imagination go to town. Or just fall asleep watching Shark Week.
