Children of Bodom’s Alexi Laiho Talks About his Signature ESP

Total Guitar posted a new “Me and My Guitar” feature (guys, I know I’m not a genius at naming features, but you need a more metal name for these articles) with Children Of Bodom’s Alexi Laiho. In it, he goes into serious detail about his signature ESP, and its ’80s heritage. What’s most interesting to me is that the guitar he based it on was a Jackson he used for a while, and he always assumed it had an active pickup until someone pointed it out to him. I’ve never thought those EMG passive HZ series pickups sounded great, but the man likes what he likes.

Chris Alfano has written about music and toured in bands since print magazines and mp3.com were popular. Once in high-school he hacked a friend's QBasic stick figure fighting game to add a chiptune metal soundtrack. Random attractive people still give him high-fives about that.
