THE FIVE HUNDRED – “Winters” Guitar Playthrough

The Five Hundred are English, and in the game of pool (or billiards) “English” is when you put spin on the ball, so “English” is English for spin, and the Five Hundred definitely put their own spin on the use of an eight string guitar, so it all works out, you see.

Anytime I try to use a genre label to classify a band in one of these things, it rarely ends well, but the band’s sound reminds me of some of my favorite metalcore bands (a dirty word these days, I know) such as August Burns Red or early All That Remains. but with 8 string guitar (that’s the spin to which I earlier referred). I think it sounds marvelous, and it’s a capital idea (there’s the English to which I earlier referred).

This song “Winters” comes from their EP of the same name which can be yours for just £3 pounds sterling from them direct on Bandcamp.

Anyway, enough bloody wankin’ about, here’s some devastation from across the pond from The Five Hundred:

Here’s what he used:

Engl Pro 4×12 cab
LTD SC608b 8-string guitar

As Editor-in-Chief of Gear Gods, I've been feeding your sick instrument fetishism and trying unsuccessfully to hide my own since 2013. I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.
