Perth based hardcore band Statues seems to be the physical embodiment of just raw energy. Just listening to one of their songs makes me want to go fight crime or something. It juices me up to the nth degree. So, it was super cool seeing a more focused video from them was super refreshing to see in this guitar playthrough for the song “Sirens” from Scott Kay. And even though this is a more contained performance, Scott is punishing his guitar. It looks like it’s about to fly out of his hands constantly. The boy just wants to move around!
“Sirens was one of the first tracks I wrote for ‘No Grave, No Burial’, and set us down a path for how the record would sound; a blend of our old, technical riff style, with more of a melodic twist than what we’ve done in the past.
In the play-through I’m using my PRS Custom 24, running that into my Axe FxII, using the 5150III amp model, and then utilising some delays for the overdubs.
For the live setting, I’m using an Ibanez RG1451 Prestige, because I’m far too protective of my PRS to throw it to the wolves like that!”
Statues recently released their album No Grave, No Burial, and it’s available on all of your favorite music purchasing sources on the internet, including the bands website. Don’t forget to find them on Facebook (here‘s a hint for ya). Grind this bad boy, and then go throw rocks at trees or something.
Check them out on their upcoming tour with Arteries if you live in Australia (or if you’re willing to travel – could be worth it!):
