Maybe you’re a bit like myself and hadn’t heard of the canucks in Riftwalker until now. That’s all fine, because now you have, and you can thank your Gear Gods for looking out. If you’re at all into progressive death metal—which you should be, because progressive death metal is the shit—then you’ll like what this trio’s offering.

Not to mention, one of the best things about playthroughs like these is ogling gear for a few minutes. Feed your obsession with an ESP/LTD Horizon-III (LEFTY, BABY! WOOOO!), an EBMM Stingray (righty…boooo), and another EBMM you don’t see nearly often enough to name so we’re moving on. (Ok, it looks like a Cutlass.)

Riftwalker will be digitally releasing their first album, Green & Black, on Halloween. If merch and physical copies are more your style, pre-order options should be going up soon. They’ll also be dropping an animated lyric video for the title track, so keep an eye on all of that.

P.S.: If you’ve made it this far and haven’t already, don’t look up “harlequin ichthyosis.” Trust.
