CHRONOLOGIST Rock Out Far And Wide In This Exclusive Guitar Playthrough Of “Pioneer”

Chronologist are a band that know how to balance heaviness with melody. Since the release of their 2016 LP Cartographer, the Texas-based progressive metal three-piece have been slaving away on some new tunes to grace our ears with, but to tide us over in the meantime, guitarist Julian Gargiulo sat down and slayed this playthrough of their song “Pioneer” from Cartographer, only right here, on Gear Gods!

Now, this track has a lot going on. It starts out lush, clean, and melodic, and slowly moves into this massively groovy section that makes its way into the song at various points throughout the whole thing. But don’t let that fool you, because the song is also full of shreddy riffs, searing tapping lines, and some added ambience to tie the whole thing together. All in all, it’s a complex song that deserves multiple listens to be truly appreciated.

The video was filmed and recorded at The Machine Shop in Austin, TX, and was edited by Nigel Summers of The Ansible. You can stream/buy Cartographer on the band’s Bandcamp, and be sure to give these guys a follow on Facebook and Instagram because it’s been confirmed that they’ve been cookin’ up something fierce.
