Supergroup Alkaloid Is Like The Avengers of Nerd Metal, and the Band Is Crowdfunding a Record

Holy crap, that’s quite a stockpile of talent, leaking plutonium in anticipation of destruction, in the military hanger that is Alkaloid. Somewhere I get the impression that a couple 12-year-olds were trading music hero action figures (in the parallel universe where such trinkets exist) and then some magical Last Action Hero shit happened causing all of these amazing musicians to come together in real life and the kids are like, “wooooaaaah.”

We’ve got Morean (Dark Fortress, Noneuclid) on vocals, Hannes Grossmann (Blotted Science, ex-Obscura, ex-Necrophagist) on the drums, Christian Muenzner (Spawn of Possession, ex-Obscura, ex-Necrophagist) and Danny Tunker (Aborted, ex-God Dethroned) ripping it up on guitar, and Linus Klausenitzer (Obscura, Noneuclid) handling the bass guitar. Hot damn that’s a lineup and a half if I’ve ever seen one.

Now the band is turning towards us, the musicians who dork out about glitch tapping and one-handed blast beats, to fund the release of its new record. There’s an Alkaloid Indiegogo campaign just calling you, man.

How can you tell that this release is targeted at players? For one, check out the reward tiers. There are guitar, bass, and drum packages with strings and wristbands and instructional DVDs and all kinds of other chotchkies that your average metalhead would have zero interest in. Take a look:

What, no vocal package? Well anyway, give a listen to the teaser songs below. If you want to drop some cash towards this fine release, you can do so at Alkaloid’s Indiegogo page.

Chris Alfano has written about music and toured in bands since print magazines and mp3.com were popular. Once in high-school he hacked a friend's QBasic stick figure fighting game to add a chiptune metal soundtrack. Random attractive people still give him high-fives about that.
