Sure, it’s nice to see Peter Iwers, the man responsible for holding down the low end with In Flames, giving the rundown on his inexpensive Ibanez signature bass, the PIB3. After all, it has some nice features, particularly the mono-rail IV bridge.
But really, it’s the human story that compels. In the process of describing why it was important to Iwers and Ibanez to release a model with a lower price point (besides the obvious of “young kids with no money love In Flames and want to learn to play”), Peter Iwers talks about his early days as a musician. His first semi-nice bass was an Ibanez SR600, and it gets a little screen time in the clip.
