DARKGLASS Announces New Ultra Series Plugin with Neural DSP

This world has very few certainties. Death, taxes, that one friend you swear is cool when just the two of you hang out. You know, real truths. I think it’s safe to say that Darkglass is quickly becoming one of those truths. If you’re a bass player, you use Darkglass. They have become the go-to company for capturing the bass tone. And the beauty of it is, there isn’t one the tone. There are endless perfect tones for bassists, and Darkglass can make them all. And Darkglass have teamed up with Neural DSP to make finding your tone that much easier, with the Ultra Series Plugin.

The plugin is meant to simulate the Darkglass Ultra pedal series, and it is no joke. Neural DSP are new in town, but they are no pushover.

This is what they had to say about working on this plugin:

Darkglass Electronics’ Microtubes B7K Ultra has 5-10 times more components than a typical tube amplifier or classic overdrive, which makes modeling it considerably more challenging. We had to go as far as creating models for the 4049 CMOS chip completely from scratch so that we could recreate the distortion characteristics and capture the sonic effects of every component with the most accuracy. The resulting algorithms are so accurate that they’re indistinguishable from the Darkglass pedals.

These boys don’t fuck around. And they mean what they say when they sound indistinguishable. It’s scary.

It’s Darkglass. They only make quality stuff. You can get this plugin for 99 euros (That’s about $120 for us in the U.S.O.A.) straight from the Neural DSP site. Get it and be done.
