NAMM 2015 – REMO Drum Heads

For 2015, Remo, a fantastic maker of drum heads, is having a wide release for two products that were previously more limited in availability; the Powerstroke 77 snare head and the Powerstroke 3 Black Dot bass drum head. We got a firsthand look at the specs, and caught these bad boys on film for you!

I’ve heard about more and more drummers – particularly gospel and hip hop players, although I know that some punk players enjoy this head’s tone as well – using the Powerstroke 77, which has coatings designed with drier tones in mind. So for you players who are looking for a bit more of a tapered, less boomy head sound, check out the 77.

The Powerstroke 3 is also a whopper – this bass drum head has much attack that, depending on the room and kick pedal you’re using, it can sound like you’ve got a quarter taped to it!
