NAMM 2015 – NEUMANN TLM 107 Has Multiple Polar Patterns for Under $2k

Neumann are the makers of some of the most sought-after and iconic condenser mics in the world. At NAMM this year they revealed the TLM107, the newest in their line of TLM (transformer-less microphone) mics, putting their classic technology within reach of consumer level audio engineers.

The TLM 107 is the first Neumann with multiple polar patters to retail for under $2000, according to the sales rep in the video. It also features a new windscreen design that is intended to reduce sibilance and eliminate the need for a de-esser in post. I’d be pretty impressed if it lived up to this claim, it’s a hefty one to say the least – de-essing is a pain in the ess, and I’d rather not deal with it if I don’t have to.
