It’s pretty much impossible these days to go down any list of modern guitarists that are pushing the boundaries of the instrument without seeing Wes Hauch‘s name. I mean, at this point all you have to say is “Wes” and pretty much any guitarist who isn’t a total fuckin’ dummy is going to know exactly who you are talking about. His band Alluvial released their debut full length back in 2016 entitled The Deep Longing for Annihilation and it is absolutely PACKED with huge riffs, fantastic songwriting, and incredibly important lead work that everyone will be trying to decipher for many years to come.
Sheet Happens Publishing teamed up with Wes a little while ago to do a full guitar transcription of The Deep Longing for Annihilation which you can purchase both digital and physical versions of right here. After the massive success of this transcription, it would seem as though Sheet Happens and Wes have teamed up to bring you a new series of short lesson clips highlighting some of Wes’ favorite licks. This lesson features HANDY AS FUCK scrolling tabs at the bottom of the screen, as well as left and right-hand angles at both slow and fast speeds.

The first part starts out on a descending 16th note triplet pattern that includes a 9, 13, b5 and 11. It ascends on a sort of pentatonic motif that also includes a 9. Whip this puppy out in front of any of your local dads and they’ll surely be stoked.”
