AVENGED SEVENFOLD Get Deep and Moody In a New Episode of String Theory

Ernie Ball’s video series “String Theory” is sort of a magical thing. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a chance for guitarists to share their experiences growing up as musicians, learning how to play, and their philosophies, amongst a whole mess of other things. It’s a way to sit down with these massive players and learn about them as people and make them a bit more human. I have to admit it was a little funny seeing Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance on there at first.

That’s not a knock on the guys in any way, though. I actually really like some of the stuff the band has put out in their career. But it’s sort of hard to hear these two guitarists who are mega huge guitar players to try to come down and have a deeper conversation. It’s always seemed like they’re on a totally different level than everyone else. But, it was nice to see them get a little more real and relatable and hear about how they learned their instruments. They balance each other super well, and that has always been one of the appeals of the band.

I feel like I don’t need to plug any of the band’s things, because there isn’t a person on the planet who hasn’t hear the band. But, just in case, Avenged Sevenfold are kicking off “The Stage World Tour” in January with Breaking Benjamin and Bullet For My Valentine. Whoa, is it 2007 again? Find some dates on their Facebook.
