The ever-bubbly and excitable Henning Pauly (EytschPi42 on YouTube) spent the day with the always low-key and relaxed Robert Baker, and this dynamic duo made a mission to go to the Thomann music distributor in Germany and make a video documenting their search for a €500 guitar rig for a beginner. They’re fun dudes to watch, be sure to subscribe to them for more cool videos!

As Editor-in-Chief of Gear Gods, I've been feeding your sick instrument fetishism and trying unsuccessfully to hide my own since 2013. I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.

  • I find it deeply annoying that they can’t even be bothered to turn the lights on where they’re going to be shooting beforehand. Or cut the video, turn the lights on, go from there. We want to see what they’re looking at and that just doesn’t cut it. It’s no effort, and makes a world of difference.

    Boom, you’re melting face.

I’d rather see a craigslist challenge, way more bang for your buck there. You can easily get a half stack, effects board and a guitar with a case for $500.
