It’s Not too Late to Enter Our Contest to Become the Next Jamplay Instructor and Win $4,000

In school you may have been taught that your tongue can detect 4 tastes: bitter, sweet, salty, and sour. They had diagrams and everything. Or maybe your educators were aware of that fifth taste, the debated “unami” – the savory taste. It’s commonly agreed upon nowadays, after all. So 5. There are 5 tastes, right? Wrong. There is also the taste of victory. This is the most difficult taste to experience… well, unless you just pick up a 6 pack of Victory beer. But true victory? It’s fleeting, ephemeral, hard to come by.

You know you have the guitar chops: you only need a venue. That’s why we’re hosting a contest to decide who will be the next JamPlay guitar instructor. The champion who emerges will be flown out to Denver and have their lessons professionally filmed for 3 days, and be paid $4,000 for their time in doing so.

So here’s what you have to do: Create one short lesson guitar lesson video (2-5 minutes in length), upload it to your YouTube channel, and then paste it into the entry form below. Your lesson should be distilled tutorial perfection: informative, concise, interesting, personable, and if you can put your own unique stamp on it then go for it (but please no gimmicks). We’ll be accepting submissions from today through the end of August, and then we turn the best of the best to face reader judgement on September 15th.

Chris Alfano has written about music and toured in bands since print magazines and mp3.com were popular. Once in high-school he hacked a friend's QBasic stick figure fighting game to add a chiptune metal soundtrack. Random attractive people still give him high-fives about that.
